Sudhir (R) presents his credentials to Minister Kutesa
Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, arguably Uganda’s richest man has officially been unveiled as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Nepal to Uganda.
Sudhir, who was accompanied by Nepalese nationals in Uganda and Ambassador Jhabindra Aryal presented his credentials to Sam Kutesa, Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday morning.
Kutesa congratulated Sudhir for adding a new role to what he is already doing.
Today also marked the official opening of the Nepalese Consulate in Uganda; the Consulate is located at Crane Chambers 4th floor.
Dr Sudhir is the founder and Chairman of the multi-billion Ruparelia Group, a 28-company conglomerate invested in financial services, real estate, education, hospitality, agriculture and media.
The group is a major investor and taxpayer and directly employs over, 8,000 employees, the majority of whom are women.
A recipient of the Golden Jubilee Presidential Medal by President Yoweri Museveni, Sudhir has also been recognised by Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) as a top and compliant taxpayer.
Dr. Sudhir was in 2018 appointed by the Uganda Wildlife
Authority (UWA) as an honorary wildlife ambassador, in recognition of his
support to wildlife conservation efforts.
Forbes Magazine in 2014 recognized him as the 24th Wealthiest Person in Africa.
A self-made billionaire, Sudhir is also known for his philanthropic works under the Ruparelia Foundation.
