MPs To Interface With Museveni Over Human Rights Violations During Elections

Members of Parliament on the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee are set to interface with Presideynt  Yoweri Museveni over human rights viloations witnessed during the 2021 Presidential campaigns.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga last week directed the same committee to investigate and report to parliament in a month allegations that security agencies were involved in arresting and torturing presidential candidates and their supporters.

Parliament also received reports that up-to-date some of the supporters of National Unity Platform (NUP) are being whisked by security in vans commonly known as  ‘drones’.

Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee, Janepher Nantume Egunyu said that Museveni, NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi, DP’s Norbert Mao, FDC’s Patrick Amuriati and others will appear before the committee over the same matter.

She further said that even police, Uganda Human Rights Commission, and victims will  appear before thje Committee starting next week once the committee starts investigations officially.
