The health condition of Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya (pictured) is worsening, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament and also Nyendo-Mukungwe legislator, Matthias Nsamba Mpuuga has said.
He says Makindye West MP Allan Sewanyana is also unwell.
Speaking during yesterday’s plenary ssession, Mpuuga said Ssegirinya has been ignored by the state.
He said he was raising a red flag to the Speaker and Parliament to secure the health of the MPs in question.
He noted that reports from Ssegirinya’s Lawyers indicate that his health is not good.
He said something must be done to save his life so that the government doesn’t prosecute a dead man.
Mpuuga said as opposition MPs they have amplified their demand for the state to account for the lives of Ugandans whose whereabouts also still remain unknown since their abduction by the state but there is nothing coming forth.
The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja said she has been aware that Ssegirinya has a personal doctor but she has suggested that herself, the Deputy Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition and his personal Doctor go and visit the member and forge a way forward.
Deputy Speaker Among said as parliament, they are still waiting for permission from government to intervene. As soon as the government permits, parliament is ready to take him (Ssegirinya) for treatment abroad.
