Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Nobert Mao.
The newly appointed Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Nobert Mao is slated to table five bills in his maiden duty at Parliament as Minister.
According to today’s order paper, the Minister of Justice is expected to table The Trustees Incorporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022, The Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2022 and The Anti-Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
The other bills up for introduction are The Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2022, The Partnerships (Amendment) Bill, 2022, The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2022 and The Insolvency (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
The bills are part of the 62 bills President Museveni had promised to table before Parliament in fulfillment of the legislative agenda for the 2022/2023 financial year. The bills are likely to be sent to the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee for scrutiny.
In July 21st 2022, President Museveni appointed the President General of Democratic Party (DP) as the new Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister after signing cooperation agreement with NRM, replacing Kahinda Otafire who was transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, although the office was left vacant after Otafire departure with Muruli Mukasa taking care of the docket alongside the Ministry of Public Service.
