The inaugural Corporate Games 2019 season ended with a glamorous awards dinner held on Saturday 29th November at Royal Suites Bugolobi.
The dinner left many bubbling because of the organization and arrangements that were exhibited.
Corporate Games happened every first Sunday of the month at Mandela National Stadium.
The games were introduced in February and have had a wonderful 9 months. The games included football, Netball, tag of war, basketball, darts, cycling, target shooting, soccer, chess, three legged race and athletics among others.
The dinner was kicked off by awarding all companies that participated in the 2019 season with certificates of participation.
It was followed by special recognition of companies that excelled in different areas besides just the games.
The best private award was taken by Uganda Baati. The best MDA award was taken by Ministry of Finance, Planning and economic development. Uganda National Meteorological Authority went home with the Raising Star 2019 award.
Strategic Partner award went to Mandela National Stadium and the Strategic media award was taken by Next Media Services.
The spotlight award went to ORYX Energies while Uganda Industrial Research Institute clinched the Impact award. The leadership award 2019 was taken home by Uganda National Bureau of Standards. And finally the Chairman’s award was given to Orion Transformers and engineering.
After nine months of action packed games, it was also a night that the best overall performers of the season got recognized.

Fiduga Limited were crowned the overall winners of the Corporate Games 2019 inaugural season after dominating in almost all the games. SCD Darling were the first runners up with Royal Van Zanteen clinching the third spot as second runners up.
The Next Media CEO and also Guest of honor during the awards Kin Kariisa graced the occasion with a lot of praise for the Corporate Games.
The games were also graced with the Commissioner planning from the Ministry of finance, Brigadier Sentongo and Brigadier Shillingi from the UPDF, FUFA was represented by the Director of Communications Mr. Marsha Ahmed, in attendance was the Executive director Uganda National Metrological Authority, and the Director red paper publications Mr. Johnson Musinguzi.
The chief guest was Kin Kariisa. In his remarks, Kariisa said that Corporate Games have proved to be authentic because of their strictness by making sure that companies use only their employees in the games.
“These games improve immunity and also avoid the very many small diseases we get due to less exercise of the body. I really want to thank Corporate Games Uganda for putting up these games.” Karrisa said.
“We at Next media (NBS TV, Sanyuka TV) are willing and ready to give all the support needed for the upcoming 2020 season,” he added.
Next Media (NBS TV, Sanyuka TV) were among the Corporate Games sponsors for the 2019 season. UMC Victoria Hospitals gave medical insurance to all the Corporates on the pitch.
Node Group was the PR agency that managed the PR and Marketing of the games.
The closing remarks of the function were from the Chairman of the Corporate Games Ian Rumanyika, who said that it had been a busy nine months for 2019 season with a lot of new things at the start of every month.
“Corporate Games Uganda Limited believes in having a variety of games so all your staff are not left out. We had Football, Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Cycling, Woodball, Chess, Athletics, Tag of war, sack race, paint ball shooting, swimming, darts and the three legged race in the 2019 season.” Discipline is a pillar and reason CG has succeeded this year. We encourage companies to also ensure staff follow the set guidelines,” Rumanyika said.
He added: “Corporate games was a dream that was harvested out of the desire to have a strictly corporate platform to network professionally through sports. One thing am sure of is that sports is corporate decision making. What you have joined as a brand has numerous benefits that you should continue to look for. Don’t withdraw next year. More opportunities for your brand and staff will be enormous.”
