Finance Minister Matia Kasaija (pictured) has said the most immediate priority of Government is to lift the country out of the health and economic crisis, restore household incomes and protect the vulnerable.
Kasaija made the remarks during a virtual public-private dialogue on COVID19 implications on life,businesses and jobs-Reflections on the FY 2021/22 budget.
“We will procure adequate vaccines and target to vaccinate at least 22 million people to reduce covid- related death risks and enable the economy to fully re-open,” Kasaija said.
Regarding budget cuts, Kasaija said additional funding was required in areas of Health, Security, Local Governments, Relief and ICT to address COVID19 emergencies.
He also revealed that Government has provided a total of Ushs4.034 trillion from FY 2019/20 to FY 2021/2022.
