Uganda Airlines planes
Cabinet has made a decision compelling all Government officials to travel with Uganda Airlines in areas where the national carrier is flying.
Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister of and National Guidance (ICT), made the revelation while reading Cabinet resolutions to journalists at Uganda Media Centre on Wednesday.
The Minister said said the only exception is when one’s destination does not have Uganda Airlines as one of the routes being plied by the national carrier.
Baryomunsi further cautioned accounting officers in government, the ministries, and all agencies, and departments of government that they should comply with this directive of Cabinet.
Currently, the national carrier flies to 13 destinations, 11 of them being regional (intra-Africa).
Uganda Airlines, code UR, is set to start direct flights to Mumbai, India on 7th October 2023.
Mumbai will bring the number of international flights by the national carrier to two after Dubai, with Guangzhou, China also planned in the near future.
