Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, the Governor Bank of Uganda (BoU), has fired Justine Bagyenda, the long serving Executive Director at Uganda’s Central Bank.
According to a statement dated February 7, 2017 obtained by Business Focus, Bagyenda has been replaced by Dr. Tumubweine Twinemanzi. The appointments and transfers take immediate effect. Christine Alupo, who has been the Director-Communications at BoU confirmed the development.
Alupo has also not survived the shuffle. She is now the Director, Board Affairs. Charity Mugumya is now Director Communications Department. Angela Kasirye is now the Assistant Director, Corporate Affairs-Communications Department.
Mutebile said Bagyenda is retiring and will soon process her hand-over.
It is not yet clear why Bagyenda is quitting BoU.
However, she has been at the centre of the Crane Bank saga, a thing that has left BoU top bosses divided.
Cynthia Nakayizza has been appointed Assistant Director Banking Department (Operations) while Sophia Kironde Iwumbwe has been appointed Assistant Director Commercial Banking Inspections (Onsite.)
