Besigye Demands Bobi Wine, Arrested MPs’ Release

Uganda’s opposition kingpin, Kizza Besigye has demanded the immediate release of arrested lawmakers.

Besigye, a former president of the opposition FDC, made this demand on Thursday while addressing the media at Katonga road in the capital, Kampala.

“We demand that all those persons being detained by the junta should be freed unconditionally. No person should be charged or attempted to be tried in the military courts,” Beside said.

He added, “Military courts are courts of service discipline. Discipline of service men. They are part and partial of the military service, not to try civilian citizens. Military court Martial takes orders from Mr. Museveni.”

Kyadondo East lawmaker, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is among a host of legislators who were arrested on Tuesday following chaotic scenes in Arua district on Monday that left his driver dead.
