US President Donald Trump’s comment describing African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as shithole continues to draw criticism for the billionaire leader.
In a veiled response to Trump, his envoy to Uganda, Deborah Malac on Sunday made a tweet many believe was trashing Trump’s attitude towards Africans.
“Have served in multiple countries in Africa over 30+ years. I’ve seen firsthand the talent & energy of Africans dedicated to our common aspirations of freedom, health, education & a better life for our children. Proud of the work we’ve done together,” Ambassador Malac tweeted.
Her comments follow those of the Assistant Secretary of State for Africa who promised that the US will promote its engagements with Africa.
“The United States will continue to robustly, enthusiastically and forcefully engage in #Africa, promoting this vital relationship, and to listen and build on the trust and views we share with our African partners,” the tweet says.
