Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni has revealed how his wife, First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni almost made him became a mental facility patient over her persistent demands to have a road constructed in her constituency.
Museveni revealed this on Monday as he campaigned for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag-bearer, Moses Kahima Mugabe. He addressed four rallies in the constituency.
“But later, you came up with this old woman (Janet) I don’t know where you got her from. She now became a problem to me over the road. I almost went to Butabika over this woman. I almost went mad, we were making other roads but she could not understand why Ruhaama was not coming first, before we did it. She was a big problem. You know how it is hard to defy someone you sleep with, someone you come with from the same village. All we have done here has been a result of her continuous demands,” Museveni said.
Janet was MP for the same county for 10 years before she quit parliamentary politics.
Museveni said she continuously lobbied and reminded him about the need for services in the county. According to the president, without such a Member of Parliament who sits on “the NRM table” where division of resourced and allocation is done, there can never be real development in constituencies.
