Dr. Sam Lyomoki, one of the MPs representing workers in Parliament has revealed why he is the best suited candidate to replace President Yoweri Museveni come 2021.
Addressing the press at Parliament on Friday, Lyomoki, who is also a member of the ruling NRM said following the removal of the presidential age limits, he will challenge his party boss in the next Presidential elections.
He revealed that he and his colleagues from the NRM party have agreed to front him for presidency to liberate Uganda, announcing that he is winding up his role as worker’s MP and other responsibilities he is holding from different workers’ unions.
Lyomoki added that members of the NRM who voted contrary to their party position to amend article 102b of the constitution to lift the presidential age limit, have together with some members of the opposition formed a third force.
He said the third force is going to oversee the transition of president Museveni and the post-Museveni era.
On key priorities he intends to do when he assumes the top office, Lyomoki said he will begin with aligning the country’s leadership by sacking all permanent secretaries to ensure that the tax payers’ money is appropriately used.
He added that he will put a law in place that will bar MPs from being appointed Ministers, noting that many lawmakers are now fighting to become ministers, thus forgetting the people they represent.
He further revealed that as President, he will order for a census to establish the true ownership of the buildings in Kampala and how they were acquired. Those found to have been acquired through corruption will be confiscated and owners arrested.
He also promised that he will give immunity to the incumbent if he doesn’t misbehave in his remaining term of office.
However, NTV reports that NRM Deputy Treasurer Dr. Kenneth Omona said as the Secretariat, they are not aware of any NRM members who have registered their grievances and if there is any grievance, the party has structures and mechanisms to accommodate everyone

Dr. Sam Lyomoki is a medical doctor turned trade unionist of over 20 years. The 51-year graduated in the 1990s but refused to flee the country for greener pastures like others did.
“I joined a team that founded the Uganda Medical Workers’ Union. I am therefore a medical doctor turned trade unionist. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior at a young age in 1976 and since then I have not looked back. I am married to Margaret Lyomoki with whom we have three children,” he told the Independent in 2016.
