The 3rd edition of the Buildcon International Expo, held at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) showgrounds under the theme “Connect with the Construction Industry to Build a Better Tomorrow,” attracted a vast array of sector players who showcased the latest in construction and housing technologies.
Housing Finance Bank showcased their attractive mortgages, and accessible funding options that include home loans, and incremental housing loans thus giving the attendees the opportunity to make informed decisions on home ownership, mortgages and financial acquisition.
The Buildcon Expo 2024 served as a platform for international and domestic sector players to present cutting-edge innovations and facilitate valuable business-to-business (B2B) discussions. The diverse participation of players and visitors underscored the expo’s pivotal role in promoting new products, technologies, and services that are expected to significantly impact the construction sector in Uganda and beyond.
The event was honored by the presence of the Honorable Minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Judith Nabakooba, who reiterated the ministry’s commitment to supporting the real estate sector through proper legal frameworks such as the National Housing Policy.
“We acknowledge the contribution the construction sector is making to Uganda’s GDP, which now stands at 12 percent. Our participation in this year’s Buildcon Expo is aimed at fostering a stronger and more robust sector by collaborating with all stakeholders, including constructors, builders, engineers, architects, interior designers, dealers, distributors, and government officials,” said Mr. Christopher Akugizibwe, Manager Home Loans, at Housing Finance Bank. “The growth and development of the sector is strongly anchored on the active contribution and participation of all players, and the expo made positive strides toward achieving this goal.”
The sector has experienced a steady annual growth rate of 5-7%, driven by both public and private investments in infrastructure and residential projects. This growth has continually attracted foreign investment, with notable contributions from international developers and financial institutions.
“At Housing Finance Bank, we appreciate the organizers and the government’s support for the Buildcon Expo 2024. Our participation this year aligns perfectly with our commitment to driving affordable homeownership and financial independence for all Ugandans,” added Mr. Akugizibwe.
To realize this commitment, Housing Finance Bank has signed a partnership with the Uganda Cooperative Alliance. Through this partnership, we will establish a scheme to offer loan facilities, relevant banking products, and services, such as incremental housing, agent banking services, and agricultural loans, to eligible cooperatives under the alliance.
Housing Finance Bank pledged to provide affordable credit to all Ugandans, including low-income earners with incremental housing loans, Micro loans, and business loans primarily for SACCOs, SMEs, and women.
The 3rd edition of the Uganda Buildcon International Expo proved to be a landmark event, backed by both the government and private sectors. It not only highlighted the latest trends and technologies but also provided a forum for essential discussions about the industry’s future.
