ACIBADEM, a leading medical group in the private healthcare sector in Turkey, has opened its first information office in Uganda.
Uganda’s Ambassador to Turkey, Nusurah Tiperu, and ACIBADEM’s representatives from Turkey presided over the office launch at Acacia Mall in Kampala on in Kampala, on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
“What you have is a tested institution,” said Tiperu, adding that ACIBADEM is a reliable medical facility.
“Uganda will give you all the necessary support that is required,” added Tiperu.
Levent Serdar Dervisoglu, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Uganda in Istanbul, said that ACIBADEM’s decision to invest in Uganda gives him enough confidence to have more Turkish investments come into Uganda.
The Group’s Director of International Business Development, Ilyas Benveniste, told the media in Kampala that ACIBADEM’s expansion to Uganda is a confirmation of good relations between Uganda and Turkey, which he said date back decades.
He added that the investment also embodies Turkey’s commitment to bilateral relations with Uganda.
He added that both Uganda and Turkey will benefit from the investment. For instance, he said that there will be exchange visits involving specialists from the two countries. Benveniste revealed that ACIBADEM has a partnership with local universities, including Kampala International University, which he said is a good thing in terms of knowledge sharing.
ACIBADEM’s Country Representative and Kampala Office Manager, Dr. Jackson Abusu Ojera, says the expansion to Kampala is part of the group’s global reach, with the latest being Kampala (Uganda), Bulgeria, Marcedonia, Serbia, and Holland.
Dr. Ojera said that although ACIBADEM is prominent in the healthcare sector, it may not have everything, and thus, he said collaboration with local sector players is key. The expansion now brings ACIBADEM’s figures to 33 countries and 56 cities across the world.
