Botswana may have won the vote for Africa’s best safari country in SafariBookings’ regular survey, followed, by Tanzania in second place and Zambia in third place.
But Uganda won one of the most important votes: safari-goers voted it the best overall safari country in Africa. The survey considered the reviews of over 4,000 experts and safari travelers, with nearly 2,900 of these from travelers. Uganda is definitely one to watch.
SafariBookings.com, the world’s largest online safari marketplace, brings together reviews by both safari experts and travelers. In order to compile the 2023 survey, they looked at more than 4,000 such reviews and ranked countries overall, and also according to their wildlife, birding, bush value and scenic value.
Travelers loved Uganda, so much so that it was the clear winner among travelers for the best overall safari country, ahead of Botswana in second place and Zambia in third place. Experts also ranked Uganda as the best country in Africa for birding.
Uganda has so much going for it that the results should come as no surprise. Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the best places to see mountain gorillas, while Kibale, Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks are beautiful protected areas filled with fabulous wildlife.
With such an impressive 2023 showing, expect Uganda to be pushing strongly for a place in the top three next time around.
