The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Director General, Fred Bamwesigye has said rotary has the power to transform lives and society.

He made the remarks as guest of honour in a speech delivered by UCAA Corporation Secretary, Mary Hellen Wenene at the Installation Ceremony of the 2nd President of Rotary Club of Garuga on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Interservice Beach in Garuga.

“I can attest to the power and influence of Rotary. Permit me to share that a few years ago, UCAA made a modest contribution to the Rotary Club of Entebbe, which liaised with  The Rotary Foundation through the Rotary District 9214 and secured very expensive Orthopeadic Equipment that was recently handed over to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital. This is testimony to the power of Rotary, and I think it deserves a big round of applause,” Wenene said.

She added: “I am also happy to learn that this years Rotary theme, is to create hope in the world, its encouraging and I applaud you for that great cause.

I have equally noted that you are involved in several projects, basic literacy and Education, Maternal health among others and that you did ground breaking for the construction of a 2-storey classroom block at Kitala SSS a few weeks back, UCAA is cognizant of the impact  RC Garuga is making in our societies and we are proud to be associated with you on this journey. On that note, therefore and on top of the earlier modest contributions, UCAA will make a humble contribution of 3,000,000 (Three Million) to be deposited on Rotary Club of Garuga’s account in the next few days.”

She added that the spirit of Rotary resonates well with UCAA’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) vision of building a caring and inclusive society in Uganda and giving back to communities, especially in the vicinity of Entebbe International Airport.

“Support for the disadvantaged are among the top priorities on our policy agenda, emphasising the areas of Health, education, religion and sports,” she said, adding: “We are committed to creating more opportunities and providing more support for the next generation to unleash their potential.”

In this regard, she said,  UCAA has previously partnered with almost all the Entebbe corridor Rotary Clubs, including RC Bwerenga, Lubowa, Bwebajja and Entebbe, among others in execution of different projects.
