Any arriving passenger at Entebbe International airport should know that there are a number of restricted items that require clearance by designated Government agencies before being released by customs.
According to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), the following items are restricted and shall require clearance from the designated government agencies before releasing by customs at the airport:
All medicines
These are cleared by National Drug Authority (NDA).
Arms and ammunition and military stores
This is cleared by Ministry Of Internal Affairs (MIA).
Betting and gaming equipment
This is cleared by Lotteries And Gaming Board.
Chemicals
These are cleared by Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS)
Drones, explosives
They are cleared by Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF).
Minerals
These are cleared by Ministry of Energy.
Live insects, birds, animals, and animal products
These are cleared by Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF).
Live plants and plant products
These are also cleared by MAAIF.
According to URA, Passengers who come into the country with money in excess of USD 10,000$ must report to customs and declare the money in their possession.
