Uganda’s Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja has pledged government’s commitment to work closely with the private sector to address challenges facing the export market.
“Uganda’s agricultural exports today face compliance challenges and this gives a bad reputation on the country,” said Nabbanja.
The Premier was Tuesday afternoon presiding over a training forum on Export preparedness policies and procedures, at Kampala Skyz Hotel in Kampala.
The training forum was organized by the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development, to address export challenges.
Nabbanja noted that the export market is critical particularly at this time when Government is implementing the Parish Development Model (PDM) that is likely to lead into increased agricultural production and therefore the need for a bigger market.
Issues being addressed to promote exports include quality of agricultural chemicals, extension services and policy regulations.
The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development, Odrek Rwabwogo said his committee is focusing on four key interventions to promote the export market. These include; compliance measures, market access, exit infrastructure and low cost credit.
