Frustrated By Gov’t Bureaucracy, Tumwebaze Says He’ll Spend 60% Of His Time In Field Engaging Farmers

Frank Tumwebaze (pictured above), the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, has revealed that Government bureaucracy is frustrating him.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Tumwebaze said: “Government bureaucracy, rigidity, failure to appreciate logic, lack of a results oriented culture, resistance to reforms & new ideas etc, can really be stressing & frustrating. But my consolation now is that the Private sector is doing a good job.”

He added: “I am now devoting my time, heart & mind to work with the agribusiness Private sector. I will use whatever little influence I have to advocate for & design Private sector favourable policies. Come July this year, 60% of my work time will be in the field engaging producers.”

President Yoweri Museveni appointed Tumwebaze as the new Agriculture Minister after the 2021 general elections.

He officially  took over office on June 22, 2021 from  Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempiija. After taking over office, he promised to apply a proactive approach through directly engaging farmers on ministry policies.https://twitter.com/FrankTumwebazek/status/1504399712241299456?s=20&t=SSjcgC_VJnHangGGqOB2bg
