FULL LIST: The Top 25 Compliant Taxpayers Per Region As Ranked By URA

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has ranked the top 25 most compliant taxpayers in the four geographical regions of Uganda in 2019/20.

This part of the Taxpayers’ Appreciation Season 2020 (TPAS).

According to URA Commissioner General, John R. Musinguzi, URA plans to increase engagements with every taxpayer and every stakeholder to enable them to appreciate their rights and obligations.

“We are also employing technology to improve our service delivery and increase taxpayer compliance, and other mechanisms to rally more qualifying citizens to contribute to the revenue basket.

As servants of the people of Uganda, we pledge to be more efficient and transparent in what we do, guided by the pillars of Patriotism, Integrity, and Professionalism,” Musinguzi says.

The selection of these top 100 taxpayers has been more stringent with higher compliance standards, URA says.

“They are picked from our database, centered on their consistency and voluntary compliance in honoring their tax obligations and continued growth over the last three years,” Musinguzi says.

In an exclusive interview with Business Focus, Ian Rumanyika, the Public & Corporate Affairs Manager at URA, during the Taxpayer Appreciation Season they have been able to recognize the true sources of tax revenue from taxpayers across the country, reward, appreciate and promote voluntary compliance, position URA as a listening partner, business enabler and service oriented organisation

“We are cognizant of the current times [of COVID-19] and we ready to walk the journey together for the good of our country. We dedicated this season to appreciate compliant taxpayers especially those that remained compliant despite the hardships faced during COVID-19 pandemic; we celebrate their resilience,” Rumanyika says.

He adds: “Through appreciating those who are compliant, we reinforce a culture of voluntary compliance and heighten the spirit of patriotism and shared accountability among Ugandans and the taxpaying community.”
