President Yoweri Museven has promised Ugandans that no landlord will evict them from the premises they rent as the country begins dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 lock down effects.
Museveni made the promise on Thursday while delivering the State of the Nation Address to parliament.
“The Government will not allow landlords to evict tenants on account of not paying rent. Discussions have started with both groups and a solution will be found,” Museveni promised.
The address was ‘scientific,’ with the president addressing parliament from State House.
He added, “Some of those funds will be modified to deal with the categories of our people that have been affected by the lockdown. Those affected, include the Boda riders, the salon operators, the bars people, the night-clubs people, the artists, etc.”
