Remains Of Police Boss Who Perished In Ethiopian Airlines Crash Identified After Seven Months

The remains of Police Commissioner Christine Alalo who perished in the Ethiopian Airways crash in March have been identified.

Alalo was part of the passengers from 35 countries who were on board the Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa to Nairobi that crashed on 10 March, killing 157 people.

Among the victims were 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, nine Ethiopians and eight Americans.

According to a statement issued by the police, the leadership is now planning a burial for the fallen officer.

“We are working closely with the family to bring her remains back for burial,” the statement says.

Born on the March, 21,1970, to Mr. and Mrs. Stanley and Janet Elwoku Etori of Acut village, Kalaki Sub county, Kalaki County in Kaberamaido, Alalo joined the police force on August 18, 2001 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

She was promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police in 2004 and went on to head the Child and Family Protection Unit of the police force before being elevated to Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2012 and later Commissioner of Police, a rank she held until her demise.

Alalo later went for a foreign mission in Somalia under the AU/AMISOM and by the time of her death, she was the acting commissioner of Police for AMISOM, a position she assumed in November 2017.
