Dfcu Bank Contributes Shs150m Towards Construction Of Rotary Hospital, Mukono

dfcu Bank has made a contribution of  Shs150m to the Rotary Club of Kampala towards the construction of the Mukono hospital project. This donation comes in a week just after the bank contributed 15m for the establishment of the Rotary Blood Bank at Mengo Hospital.

While recently handing over the cheque to Lwanga K. Stephen, Rotary Club of Kampala president 2016/2017, dfcu Bank’s CEO Mathias Katamba remarked that; “As much as dfcu Bank strives to reach the highest level of service delivery to our customers, we are always moved by compassion to respond to interventions in our communities and this is only one of the many activities we are involved in.”

dfcu Bank’s main areas of concern include Maternal/Child Health, Environmental conservation, Community development, Emergency intervention and Financial Literacy training.

The primary objective of the project is to build a modern 170-bed hospital, the Rotary Hospital (RH), whose aim is to improve access to quality and affordable health care services for at least 700,000 residents in Mukono and the surrounding areas. The hospital will also provide training facilities for the Uganda Christian University based in Mukono town and any other institutions of health education.

“We would like to acknowledge the Rotarians for the dedicated effort and contributions so far, and we are confident that this project will come to its full potential and make a significant impact to Uganda’s health system” added Katamba.

While the facility is partially functional and offering some basic health services to the community, there is a lot of work that needs to be done to achieve the vision of this project.

When completed the hospital will offer general and specialized services to the residents of Mukono district.

Lwanga K. Stephen commended dfcu Bank for its continued contribution towards the Rotary Club initiatives.
