Airtel Injects Shs100M In FUFA 2018 Awards

For the 4th year running, sports stars will be invited to a glamorous awards night to be honored by FUFA and Uganda Cranes official sponsor Airtel Uganda. These awards are aimed at recognizing individual and team excellence within Uganda football annually and over the last 12 months, football stars, administrators, fans, sponsors and the media have been following local football with keen interest in anticipation for the ceremony.

Sponsoring the awards for the fourth consecutive year, Airtel has this year acquired the naming rights and has donated one hundred million shillings (UGX100,000,000) towards ensuring that the awards are successful.

This year, there are 15 categories for the 2018 Airtel FUFA Awards with the best Female and Male footballers of the night walking away with a grand prize of a car each and other winners receiving different exciting prizes and trophies. Additionally, the 2018 awards have also incorporated the Uganda Premier League Awards, which used to be held at the end of every season.

Commenting about the Airtel FUFA awards, Airtel Uganda Managing Director Mr. V.G. Somasekhar said, “We are happy to partner with FUFA for the 4th year running to sponsor the Airtel FUFA Awards. Airtel is committed to supporting football right from the grass root to the national team and our support of these awards re-affirms total commitment for developing football at all levels. We thank FUFA for continually recognizing talent and pledge as a brand to continue supporting this cause as we strive to see Ugandan football players become highly regarded in Africa and across the world.”

The nominees for Airtel FUFA Male player of the year 2018 include;

  • Allan Okello (KCCA FC) Code 10
  • Moses Waisswa (Vipers FC) Code 20
  • Vianne Sekajugo (Ounduparaka FC) Code 30

The nominees for the Airtel FUFA Female player of the year 2018 include;

  • Tracy Jones Akiror (Kawempe Muslim ladies FC) Code 70
  • Aturo Ruth (UCU Lady Cardinals FC) Code 60
  • Shadia Nankya (Uganda Martrs High school, Lubaga) Code 50

The Airtel FUFA Awards will take place at Speke resort Munyonyo on Friday 7th December 2018. Some of the other sponsors include, Nile Special, nic holdings, BUL, Eco Bank, bet lion, Uganda Premier league and SMS one.
