Barclays Bank of Uganda Limited has joined  Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) to provide a secure, convenient and affordable online payment solution that enables taxpayers pay their tax, non-tax revenue and any other fees using VISA, MasterCard, Maestro or American Express cards.

The platform, which is on the URA website, can be accessed using internet enabled devices and is available to both Barclays and non-Barclays clients. Speaking at the launch of the platform at URA head offices in Nakawa on Thursday, Barclays Bank’s Managing Director, Rakesh Jha said, “In addition to already existing payment solutions that we offer, this new service offers taxpayers a seamless payment channel that not only offers convenience but reduces the cost of doing business.”

Testing of the service commenced in March 2018 and a staggering Shs80 million worth of payments and collection of taxes was recorded in the first two weeks alone.

“The success of this initiative is in line with URA’s strategic objective of simplifying her business processes to enable taxpayers fulfill their tax obligations” Doris Akol the Commissioner General at  URA noted.

URA E-pay is a convenient way of paying taxes 24/7 no matter where you are in the world using any internet enabled device.
