Uganda’s First Lady who is also Minister of Education and Sports has launched a radio campaign aimed at ensuring good feeding of school going children.
Janet Museveni revealed this development on Tuesday.
“Tonight, I start a national radio campaign on school feeding. Please tune in and let’s discuss how to ensure our children’s potential is fully exploited, starting with nutrition,” the First Lady tweeted.
She added, “During this campaign, we are going to bring political, cultural and religious leaders to promote nutrition in schools.”
On Tuesday night, she appeared on Voice of Tooro (VOT), a local radio station in Kabarole district, western Uganda.
She also expressed her concerns about men who spend on alcohol instead of feeding their children.
“I am concerned that a number of men spend a lot of money on alcohol rather than packing food for children and meeting their school needs,” she said.
