Uganda Airlines Airbus A330 is mainly used for long-haul routes
Uganda Airlines, the National carrier of the Republic of Uganda, has announced a new Interline agreement with Airlink, Southern Africa’s leading private airline.
This strategic partnership significantly enhances travel connectivity for airline’s guests, seamlessly linking Uganda Airlines’ network with Airlink’s extensive route system across Southern Africa via Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB).
The partnership allows passengers to book a single ticket for seamless travel from Entebbe (EBB) to over 45 destinations within South Africa and across the Southern Africa region.
This provides a streamlined travel experience, with through-check-in for passengers and their baggage, eliminating the need for multiple bookings and check-ins in Johannesburg.
“We are excited to partner with Airlink, a respected airline known for its extensive regional network,” said Mr. Adedayo Olawuyi, Chief Commercial Officer, Uganda Airlines.
“This interline agreement is a significant step in our aspirations of making intra-African travel easier. It provides our customers with unparalleled convenience and choice when travelling to key destinations across Southern Africa, all on a single ticket.”
“This partnership with Uganda Airlines strengthens our commitment to connecting Africa. It opens up a vital gateway in East Africa for our customers, and, in turn, provides Ugandan travelers with efficient and direct access to Southern Africa’s key economic and tourism centres. It’s a win-win for both airlines and our customers,” says Ms Katherine Whelan, Airlink Chief Commercial Officer.
The partnership will support, among others, Expanded Network Access; where guests will now enjoy convenient, single-ticket access to Airlink’s comprehensive network of over 45 destinations, including popular business and leisure spots such as Cape Town, Durban, Victoria Falls, Windhoek, Gaborone, and more; Seamless travel experience for passengers to book a single itinerary for their entire journey, with checked luggage automatically transferred between airlines, ensuring a smooth, hassle-free travel experience, and lastly, increased travel options that provided reciprocal benefits, enabling Airlink’s customers to easily connect to Uganda Airlines’ growing African network, fostering greater trade and tourism links across the continent.
It should be noted that in September this year, Uganda Airlines announced the signing of a new interline partnership with Air India, India’s leading global airline.
The agreement will seamlessly connect networks of both carriers, offering passengers unparalleled travel options between Africa and the Indian subcontinent and beyond.
This strategic partnership allows Uganda Airlines guests to book a single ticket for seamless travel from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) to over 25 destinations across India and key international hubs via Air India’s major gateway in Mumbai (BOM).
