Police in Napak district are investigating a break-in at the Mugasime Money lender office in Matany Town Council. The manager, Ivan Ninsiima, reported that the office was locked on Friday evening, but when he returned on Saturday morning, he discovered that the door had been broken and ten million Shillings was stolen.
He reported the matter to Matany police station, leading to the arrest of some suspects. Michael Longole, the Mt. Moroto regional police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and cautioned the public against tampering with the crime scene.
‘We would like to inform the general community in Karamoja that, in burglary and theft cases, we are always successful in arresting culprits only if the scene of the crime is not contaminated by the first responders,’’ Longole said.
In a separate case, two suspects were detained for cutting the perimeter fence of St Daniel Comboni secondary school and stealing 368 angle bars and chain links. The suspects will appear in court after the completion of the investigations.
