The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) is embroiled in a sex scandal with some board members being accused of favouring their girlfriends for the position of Managing Director.
A total of 14 candidates have since June 2020 been competing for the position after the removal of Judith Obitre Gama, who was removed by the President.
Sources say that the board members are now sharply divided with some of them being accused of using recruitment meetings to make comments that promote their girlfriends. At least some two board members are accused for lobbying Internal Affairs Minister, Gen. Jeje Odongo to direct public service to head hunt people who turned out to be their girlfriends already working in some other Government of Uganda (GoU) entities.
It’s revealed that the fight is becoming too much that some members don’t attend board meetings anymore fearing the shame coming from being exposed for promoting and backing some contenders who are actually their girlfriends.
The whistle blower says one of the ladies being favored is in her 50s and has never been married neither does she have children. That she is having an affair with one of the board members who is turning NIRA into recruitment ground for his concubines and side dishes.
The sexually excited NIRA board bosses have been blinded by love to the extent of ignoring technical advice from the Public Service Commission.
The conflict has now reached the Speaker of Parliament with the blower calling on her to investigate recruitment related sex scandals which continue to destroy NIRA’s public image. Some board members say that emphasizing love affairs instead of concentrating on merit will disappoint the president of Uganda who made it clear in his letter of June 2020 that he wanted to see the person of legal and IT background becoming the new boss at NIRA.
The president said he wanted the most competent Ugandan in that job and not girlfriends or concubines of the sexually starved board members.
