Uganda’s health ministry has revealed that seven people have tested negative for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
The ministry revealed this on Friday saying the samples were got from the capital, Kampala and Kanungu district, in the western part of the country.
“Samples from 7 suspected cases with #COVID19 like symptoms from International Hospital Kampala and Kanungu District have tested NEGATIVE for #COVID19. Uganda has NO confirmed case of #COVID19 today,” a statement from the ministry says.
Uganda is one of the few African countries without cases of the coronavirus.
On Wednesday, the country’s President Yoweri Museveni issued guidelines to prevent the virus spreading to the country.
He ordered the closure of schools, churches, postponement of weddings and other mass gatherings while urging those mourning to limit the number of people attending funerals.
