The 23 tons of cocoa was recovered and exhibited at the Central Police Station in Luwero.
On January 6, 2025, the Territorial Police in Luwero CPS, Savannah Region, registered a suspected case of theft of 23 tonnes of cocoa.
The cocoa was allegedly offloaded at the residence of Mr. Bisaso Eric, a 44-year-old businessman, in Mabale Zone, Kiwogozi Ward, Luwero Town Council, Luwero District.
Investigations indicate that the motor vehicle left Bundibugyo District on January 4, 2025, and arrived in Luwero on January 6, 2025, at 0600 hours.
The transporters allegedly diverted the cargo, which was being transported in a blue box body truck, to be sold to Bisaso Eric.
Police inquiries revealed that Bisaso contacted Katongole Jackson, a 42-year-old loader, resident of Kalongo Miti, Luwero Town Council, Luwero District, to assist in offloading the cocoa. The estimated weight of the stolen cocoa is 23 tonnes.
At least 177 bags of cocoa were recovered and have been exhibited at Luwero CPS, while two suspects are in detention to help in investigations.
