An intelligence led operation conducted on shops suspected of buying and selling spare parts of suspected stolen motorcycles at white Nile Zone, Katwe 1 Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala district last Saturday led to the arrest of eight suspects.
The operation headed by DPC Katwe SP Rwamusayi Frantile was conducted in the shops of Mugerwa, Nsubuga Fred aka Kanyama and Kalangwa aka Jjuko whom Crime intelligence had gathered information that the shops mentioned are fueling robberies of motorcycles around and outside Kampala areas.
Intelligence showed that they buy motorcycles from perpetrators, dismantle them into spare parts and sell them after fixing different number plates to their customers, mostly from upcountry.
During the operation, search was made on the cordoned shops and sorted spare parts of dismantled suspected stolen motorcycles were recovered.
Also Motorcycle number plates were recovered from these shops.
The number plates include; UEO 971A, UDQ 713T, UEK 746X and Logbook no.UEK 492X. Spare parts of about 15 motorcycles were recovered in Nsubuga’s shop.
While number plates; UET 405V, UES 612Y, UES 549U, UDS 660A and spare parts were recovered in Kalangwa’s shop.
Mugerwa’s shop had spare parts of Bajaj Boxers.
Eight (8) Suspects have been arrested of which 2 are key Buyers and two riders of stolen Motorcycles .
The suspects include Nsubuga, Mike Ssegirinya Mike and Rogers Mbega. Others are; Simple Julius and Ssempira Farouk.
The owners of shops below are still at large and Police are looking for them.

- °Mugerwa owns shop.
- °Jjuko owns shop.
- °Kasozi owns shop.
- °Kanywani owns shop.
Police say Musa and Richard are the mechanics who change engine numbers and make logbooks.
According to the DPC, the operation will continue so as to weed out the wrong elements in the area.
