Uganda’s State Minister for Lands, Honorable Princess Persis Namuganza on Monday morning dared an opposition lawmaker to cross her path as debate on the controversial age limit ensued.
This was after opposition MPs shouted down the Speaker and raised several points of procedure.
Sources at parliament intimated to us that in the heat of the moment, an opposition lawmaker yet to be identified attempted to make his way to the area where ruling NRM MPs and ministers sit prompting Namuganza to draw a red line and dare the legislator to cross and face her wrath.
Aware of the consequences of crossing the line, the MP backed off.
Today’s session was temporarily halted after doubts were raised over the validity of a committee report which is the basis of today’s debate.
Some of the signatories to the report are allegedly not part of the committee. The speaker has suspended the sitting to review the complaints.
