A total of 81,873 Ugandans applied for 277 vacancies across 18 Government entities, Public Service Commission has revealed.
Ms. Winnie Agnes Kabogoza, the Chairperson, Public Service Commission, says the Public Service Commission opened applications for suitable candidates between 23rd June to 21st July 2025 for the above vacancies.
However, a total of 43,123 applicants who met the shortlisting criteria were shortlisted.
” The list of shortlisted was released to the public on Monday 1st September, 2025 and was uploaded on the Public Service Commission website (https://vacancies.psc.go.ug). The persons not shortlisted were accorded an opportunity to appeal (in case one is dissatisfied with the outcome) to the Secretary, PSC within two weeks; that is by Thursday 11th September, 2025. Over 400 appeals have been received so far and are being responded to,” Ms. Kabogoza says.
She adds that the aptitude tests will run for two weeks from 15th September to 26th September, 2025. The Venue will be Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
She adds that the applicants will be informed through two ways; the telephone contacts they indicated on their application forms and Public Service Commission website.
“The details regarding when each candidate will sit for the test, will be displayed on the PSC website by 12th September, 2025. The Aptitude test results will be released by 6th October, 2025.
The oral interviews for those who will have been shortlisted will start on 13th October, 2025 and are expected to end by 31st October, 2025.The ratio is 1:6 that is, six applicants will be shortlisted for each position. The results of the oral interviews are expected to be released on 10th November, 2025,” says Ms. Kabogoza.
The high number of applicants further highlights the high levels of unemployment in Uganda.
