Glencross Sends Emotional Farewell To Staff
In a related development, Glencross has sent an emotional farewell message to staff, describing his time at NMG-U as an extraordinary journey, with highs, low and much in between.
“Back in February 2015, when I walked into the Monitor offices for the first time, I was nervous and apprehensive, but greatly determined to make a difference. I wanted to make the company a better place, a happy place and a profitable place,” Glencross wrote to staff, adding that during his tenure, he met and spoke to President Yoweri Museveni on multiple occasions-some were very pleasant exchanges and others very hot.
On some of his key highlights, Glencross talked about the continued success of KFM, paying bonus to all staff in 2017 and making Dembe FM profitable in his second year.
He described the merging of Monitor Publications Ltd and Africa Broadcasting Uganda Ltd into one cohesive group as challenging, but it has over the years resulted into a convergence of talent, expertise and resources.
He adds that one of the pivotal moments in NMG-U journey was the decision to launch a paywall for the digital content in October 2023.
“It was a bold move, met with skepticism and uncertainty, but we believed in the value of our content and the need to sustain quality journalism. I am confident that this is the future of NMGU and with dedicated support from the team, it will significantly change the fortunes of the business,” he wrote.
He concluded: “As I bid farewell, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your commitment, hard work, and adaptability throughout this journey. I carry with me cherished memories and lasting friendships…”
