The
Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) this week
officially kicked-off farmer registration exercise in the five Agriculture
Cluster Development Project (ACDP) Districts of Ntungamo, Nebbi, Amuru, Iganga
and Kalungu.
The exercise started with training of top district technical staff leadership
which include; Production officers, Agriculture Officers, Sub-county Chiefs and
Parish Chiefs.
While addressing those who trained in Data
Collection at Ntungamo District main hall, Godfrey Sunday, the senior
statistician from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries
said at the end of the training on Tuesday this week, MAAIF started right away
with a pre-test exercise in the field to establish whether the Parish Chiefs
were capturing the correct information from farmers.
“I am very happy that the pre-test exercise moved
with minimum errors. I call upon you all to work closely with the Ministry and
support this initiative very strongly for excellent results,” he said.
On 7th March 2019 while commissioning the Heavy
Earth-Moving Equipment at Namalere in Wakiso District, President Yoweri Kaguta
Museveni tasked the Ministry of Agriculture to collect and keep data/records of
all farmer households, beneficiaries of NAADS/OWC inputs, report on pests and
diseases that destruct farming activities in the Country.
