A number of Bank of Uganda (BoU) officials are under investigation by the Inspector General of Government (IGG) over alleged corruption and abuse of office.
The officials under probe include BoU Governor, Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile and his deputy, Dr. Louis Kasekende, who are believed has started an to investigate governor bank of Uganda and his deputy Louis Kasekende.
Mutebile and Kasekende are believed to have acquired multi-billion properties in upscale Kampala areas, Wakiso among other strategically located areas.
Reports indicate that the IGG is interested in finding out their source of money to buy prime assets in question including huge chunks of land in the city and very expensive posh cars.
The latest investigation of BoU officials follows an earlier investigation against former Executive Director-Supervision, Justine Bagyenda which sources say triggered this similar probe against her former bosses.
Ali Munira, the IGG spokesperson confirmed the investigation against Mutebile and Kasekende.
It should be remembered that IGG Irene Mulyagonja in March this year threatened to arrest Mutebile and warned that should any BoU official decline to respond to her summons, an arrest warrant would be issued.
