President Yoweri Museveni (pictured) has said the greed for money will kill Ugandans.
The President made the remarks in reference to Ugandans who have defied some f the COVID-19 guidelines he announced earlier to make money.
Addressing the nation on COVID-19 at State House Nakasero this afternoon, Museveni said when he stopped public transport; private cars started transporting Ugandans to various destinations at exorbitant fees.
“Private car owners saw an opportunity when public transport was banned. They hired out their vehicles,” Museveni said, adding: “Where there is money, Ugandans can die, this I have confirmed.”
He added that: “People were spending Shs50,000 from Kampala to Jinja under the opportunistic arrangement when public transport was banned the first time.”
Uganda has 54 COVID-19 confirmed cases. Over 10 people have recovered from the deadly disease. Uganda is also yet to register any COVID-19 related deaths.
