Museveni Defends His Cabinet Choices

President Yoweri Museveni has said his cabinet choices resonate with those made by Jesus, who preferred fishermen like Simon Peter to the Pharisees.

It should be recalled that on 8th June 2021, President Museveni unveiled list of his cabinet and among the shocking appointments was that of Robina Nabbanja as Prime Minister replacing Ruhakana Rugunda, with many critics arguing that Nabbanja’s appointment is “demeaning” to her predecessors.

He made the remarks while addressing the nation after the reading of the 2021/2022 national budget, and told off his haters that the people he chose had been studied for a long time and that many have good qualities the public is clueless about.

“Jesus didn’t recruit Levites, Pharisees he chose Simon Peter a fisherman, when you look at my list, know that I am in the path of Jesus Christ. I was underground, I was working alone. When you are compiling the list, you are under very big threat, I was operating alone. You NRM MPs are good, you did a fantastic and pleasant job, so many of you are so good, I look at tribe, religion to balance,” Museveni said.

To further defend his choices, the President added: “I have been studying them for a very long time. some of them have good qualities, loyalty, they don’t have squinted eyes. hardworking, not corrupt.”

Museveni also took a swipe at the assassins who shot at Minister of Works and Transport designate, General Katumba Wamala that resulted in death of his daughter Brenda Wamala and driver Haruna Kayondo, describing them as parasites who aren’t sure of what they do.

“This is definitely by parasites because people are producing wealth, so who are you instead of working you go and attack someone? You want to cause fear among Ugandans. I am here to tell the parasites that we shall crush them,” Museveni said.

The President also gave an update on investigation into Katumba shooting revealing that one of the attackers dropped a handkerchief but unfortunately, Police took long to secure the crime of scene and the item was picked by one of the residents.

He then pleaded with anyone who picked the cloth to take it to police for analysis and that there could be chance to arrest Katumba shooters if the DNA on that cloth is analysed.
