Motorcare Appointed New Ford Distributor-Partner In Uganda, Promises Better Services

Motorcare is now the official distributor of Ford brands in Uganda

Ford and Salvador Caetano have expanded their partnership to Uganda and appointed Motorcare as their new distributor partner, and sole official importer-dealer, in Uganda.

This follows the end of prior contract with CMC Motors that decided to move away from the mass passenger vehicle brands and focus on agriculture (tractors and associated implements).

Motorcare Uganda and its accumulated experience, strong market knowledge and commitment to service excellence will provide Ford customers in Uganda with the highest standards of Ford products, services, and support.

Richard Musani, the Sales Manager-Ford & Hyundai Uganda, says going forward, the showroom for Ford and Hyundai brands will be at Kitgum House on Jinja Road, Kampala.

He says the Ford brand is the second most thought after vehicle under the pickup category going by the 2021 market share.

He reveals that their existing customers will continue to receive after-sales services at Motorcare offices on Jinja road in Kampala and other service centres spread across the country.

“All customers who had service level agreements with CMC Motors are being integrated into Motorcare. This process will be complete by 1st October 2023,” Musani says, adding: “Our customers should expect even better services. We are also going to integrate our service centres into Motocare to serve our customers better.”

He says the entire automotive industry in Uganda sells an estimated 2,500 new vehicles per year.

“Customers should look out for the new-look Everest and Ranger 2023,” he says.

Asked about the cost of the new-look Ford Ranger and Ford Everest, Musani said the new-look Ranger costs between US$47,000 and US$90,000, while the new-look Everest costs between US$75,000 and 85,000.

The Hyundai brands cost between US$44,000 and US$82,000.

He notes that Government agencies, NGOs and oil companies are the leading buyers of new cars.

Asked about how they intend to remain competitive in the market, Musani revealed that customers are after a good product range and a competent team that offers after-sales services.

“A customer is at the heart of our business,” he says, adding that their full-maintenance leasing offer is also picking up.

“With this offer, you pay an agreed amount of money and drive the car for an agreed period of time. You only fuel it and leave the servicing part to us,” he says, adding that the vehicle is comprehensively insured.

In an earlier press statement, Achraf El Boustani, Managing Director Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa at Ford Motor Company, said: “We are delighted to welcome, again, Salvador Caetano Group to the Ford family. We are confident that this new step with Salvador Caetano offers the Ford brand a vital opportunity to gain market share in Kenya and Uganda.

The Ford/ Caetano partnership will continue to serve loyal customers through  a range of products and services, offering both professionalism and satisfaction, as customer satisfaction is always our priority. We will be standing close to our partners to face this exciting new opportunity.  Our main objective is to give to our Ugandan customers the best-in class experience and service, meeting Ford’s standards.”

Gabriel Almeida, COO of Salvador Caetano, said: “We are thrilled to be appointed as Ford’s new distributor-partner in Kenya and Uganda.

Salvador Caetano is looking forward to strengthening our long-term partnership with Ford on the African continent and remain committed to delivering some of the best vehicle ownership experiences to Ford customers. Our appointment of Motorcare in Uganda, as our national dealer-partner, secures the customers and market a professional and personal service in sales and after sales.”

Mads Kjaer, Chairman of Motorcare Uganda said: “It’s our priority to service all the existing Ford customers and welcome them to Motorcare as the new Ford dealer for Uganda.”

He said the new showroom for Ford has a dedicated team to service the customers.
