Most of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies plans as well as budgets are not aligned to the National Development Plan III, the Equal Opportunities Commission, (EOC) has said.
Sofia Nalule Juuko, the EOC Chairperson made the revelation on Tuesday while handing over the report on compliance of the national budget estimates and ministerial policy statements with gender and equity requirements for the FY 2024/25 to Finance Minister, Matia Kasaija.
Nalule said that votes which performed below 60% should work with EOC to build their capacity and improve performance.
The EOC chairperson further informed the Finance Minister that the ministerial policy statements of the 162 votes passed the assessment with a score of 50% and above, with Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development scoring 96%, Health Ministry 92%, Education Ministry 90% and Ministry of Finance 80%.
“Most of the Ministries, Departments & Agencies plans & budgets were not aligned to the National Development Plan III. Votes which performed below 60% should work with EOC to build their capacity and improve performance,” said Nalule.
While receiving the report, Kasaija said Government remains focused on industrialization to enhance job creation for the large number of youth in the country.
The Finance Minister also warned against misuse of the parish development model (PDM) funds, adding that PDM should be embraced to fight poverty and ensure all Ugandans is subsistence economy join the money economy.
