A medical examination conducted on the 18-year-old girl accusing a senior police Intelligence Officer, Gilbert Arinaitwe of rape has confirmed that she was indeed sexually abused.
The rape victim appeared on Monday before the Criminal Investigations Directorate at Kibuli together with her mother and recorded a statement implicating Arinaitwe.
A reliable source at Kibuli told local news agency, URN on condition of anonymity that the medical examination report that was released on Sunday shows that the girl was sexually abused. Police spokesperson, Asan Kasingye has also confirmed that the girl was abused, adding that whoever was involved well be held to account.
“This young girl needed help and it’s so unfortunate that someone took advantage of her. We are not hiding anything. We are going to investigate the matter to its conclusion,” Kasingye said.
Arinaitwe was arrested on Friday evening last week and locked up in Railways police cells for allegedly raping the school girl whom he met at the Criminal Investigations Directorate headquarters in Kibuli.
He reportedly hoodwinked the school girl into meeting him in undisclosed location in Nakawa, a Kampala suburb where he raped her. Preliminary investigations show that Arinaitwe met the victim at CID headquarters in Kibuli, a week ago and took her contacts.
