Today, Super Cup:
KCCA vs. Vipers SC at 4 p.m
At Wankulukuku
League winners Vipers SC will play the season-opening Super Cup game against KCCA FC at Muteesa II Wankulukuku stadium today, signaling the start of the local league football season.
KCCA FC custodian Charles Lukwago expressed preparedness for the game after a series of pre-season friendly games.
During a club press conference at Lugogo ahead of the game, Lukwago said: “It’s a very a crucial game. It has come at a time when we need to check where we are ahead of the new season. The new players are doing well and we hope we shall win tomorrow.”
Vipers, who won their first ever Super Cup on penalties after beating Villa, will try to find out how Mexican coach Javier Martinez Espinosa has gone in implementing his preferred 3-5-2 formation against a highly offensive KCCA squad.
KCCA defeated Vipers 1-0 in the Uganda Cup final hosted in Bukedea.
With the league managers going to polls earlier in the morning, the big issue has been the continued delay to release league fixtures without proper explanation.
