The Police in Rwampara has started investigations into the death of the Lugazi Cell LCI Chairperson in Rwampara district. Fabian Bagambagye,56 was killed by unknown people on Thursday.
Bagambagye’s body was discovered along the Mbarara Ntungamo Highway a few miles from Ndeija.
According to Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, preliminary investigations indicate that Bagambagye was last seen in a market on Thursday afternoon with friends. He later entered a taxi heading to Mbarara City to pay his casual workers at a construction site.
Kasasira says they suspect that the deceased had unspecified amounts of money on him which the criminals targeted.
Kasasira says that a postmortem report shows that the Bagambagye was strangled to death.
On Thursday, Julius Irumba 43, the Chairperson LCI of Musajjamukuru village, Buhimba sub-county in Kikuube District was also killed.
It is alleged that on Wednesday unknown persons hired Irumba, a lorry driver to transport sand to Masindi. However, when he reached Kinyara Sugar Plantation, two unknown persons emerged from the plantation and intercepted him.
The assailants who were armed with a panga, a knife, and a hammer pounced and hacked him to death.
