The legendary King of Souk, Kanda Bongo Man from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo has promised a thrilling performance with music Ugandans love about him tomorrow.
The event that will usher his fans into 2020 will be held at Sheraton tomorrow 31stDecember 2019. I is organized by Balaam Marketing agency.
During a press conference held at Sheraton this morning, Kanda Bongo Man said he has been performing since 1972 in Kinshasa. He added that over time, Lingala became famous in Africa and other continent since the 80s and 90s but added that as countries wanted to promote local artists, Lingala fame started diminishing.
“Our music has inspired many artists in Congo and other countries. When I talked to my guitarist Diplo Dibala, we had to change the style of Lingala from 2 beat songs to single beat songs after the demand of Lingala was not growing in the Western countries and some African countries,” he said.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango assured the fans that there will be tight security to ensure a peaceful event. He urged people coming to follow guidelines to prevent any inconveniences during the event.
“Starting from today, our joint security officials have started their work until the end of the event. People coming for the event should follow guidelines. Everyone will be checked before accessing Sheraton. No weapon, sharp objects, or anything that will inconvenience security should be carried during the event,” he said.
Balaam Barugahara from Balaam Marketing Agency, the organizer of the event issued the programme of the event. He said that the gates to the event will open at 10am while the main artist, Kanda Bongo will perform at 11pm. He says that the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has offered 200 crates of soda to the fans.
Brian Martin Seruyiggo from Uganda Breweries said that as part of the sponsors of the event, they will offer fans all brands of Uganda Breweries including Uganda Waragi, Bell Lager, and Guinness among others at affordable prices during the event.
