Kadaga Asks MPs, Ugandans To Vote Quiin Abenakyo For Miss World

The Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has joined the aggressive campaigns to see that Quiin Abenakyo becomes Miss World 2018.

During Wednesday’s plenary sitting, Kadaga asked MPs and Ugandans to vote for Uganda’s beauty pageant, Quiin Abenakyo for the 2018 Miss World ahead of Friday’s official crowning in Sanya, China.

Kadaga argued that  Abenakyo, a Ugandan born  is lifting the country’s flag high and should be accorded all the relevant support.

“We have been talking about promoting Uganda; there is a young Ugandan in the Miss World competition. I want to appeal to Members to vote for her because every day she is representing Uganda, you vote repeatedly,” Kadaga said.

Abenakyo made it to the top 30 finalists in the Miss World Competition, after beating her Argentine counterpart Victoria Soto, who was in competition for the top 30.

According to media reports, the two beauty queens were facing off in a Head-to-Head Challenge of the Miss World 2018, where 10 spots for the Top 30 were up for grabs and at the time Abenakyo and Soto took to the stage to make a case for their respective projects.

Nine finalists had already been confirmed.

As much as Soto’s project was based on hope and equal opportunities, the 22 year Abenakyo, opted for a girl child in a project titled ‘Fighting Teenage Pregnancies’.

Abenakyo cemented her footprint at the global beauty pageant scene when she narrated a story of a one Daisy, a Ugandan, who, in her teens, had to carry the painful work of her grandfather’s shameful act for several months, having been previously sexually abused by her father.

The emotional presentation saw the judges agree unanimously to have Abenakyo sail through to the last round.
