Judiciary Deploys 10 Recently Promoted, Appointed Judicial Officers

At least 10 newly appointed Judicial Officers at the rank of Registrars and Magistrates have been deployed to different stations in the country in a bid to take services closer to people.

According to a statement issued by the Judiciary, Bubulo and Kyenjojo Courts effective September 1st 2021 will have their first substantive Chief Magistrates since inception.

“The changes have also seen Magistrate Grade One, Lydia Kambedha, being assigned caretaker roles in addition to the current station to address the staffing gaps in the Jinja Magisterial Area,” reads the statement in part.

According to the Chief Registrar, Sarah Langa Siu, the latest deployments is a sign of progress on the number of Chief Magistrates.

The Judiciary records indicate that currently, there are only 42 of the required 100 Chief Magistrates in the Judiciary structure and these are serving in 80 Magisterial areas.

“Some areas such as Bubulo that have never had resident Chief Magistrates have now been catered for. This reduces the caretaking load from the Mbale Chief Magistrate,” said Langa.

She adds that Karamoja sub-region which was under one Chief Magistrate has now been beefed with a second one.

In the deployments seen by Uganda Radio Network (URN), Agnes Alum who has been at the Civil Division has been maintained as the Assistant Registrar and Mastullah Mulondo also remains as the Assistant Registrar for Mediation.

Others seven newly appointed Chief Magistrates who have been deployed include; Esther Nalungi who has been transferred from Bugembe to Bubulo, Freddie Awacnedi from Nabweru to Kotido, Simon Toloko from Kiruhura to Bushenyi/Buhweju/ Mitooma Magisterial areas, whereas Joy Nambozo and Gordon Muhimbise have been maintained in Kyenjojo and Ntungamo respectively.

Benson Semondo has also been maintained at Kira Chief Magistrates Court, whereas Beatrice Kainza has been picked from Nakawa and transferred to Ibanda/Kiruhura Magisterial areas.

The deployments will also see Senior Grade One Magistrate Happy Anne Kyomuhangi remain in Butaleja, Samuel Kagoda Ntende from Ibanda/Kiruhura to Mityana and Monica Amono from Bushenyi/Buhweju/Mitooma to Apac Magisterial area.

Others who have been affected in the transfers include Grade One Magistrates Racheal Nakyazze who has been picked from Mengo to go to Nabweru and Nazifah Namayanja from Ntungamo to Kaliro magisterial area

The statement shows that all the deployments take effect September 1st 2021.
