Hundreds Get Free Cancer Screening At Taxpayers’ Appreciation Week

Hundreds of people Thursday flocked the Kololo Independence Grounds to take advantage of free screening and treatment of different types of cancers.

About 200 people have so far registered for free cancer screening at the ongoing Taxpayers’ Appreciation Week 2018.

The cases being screened include cervical, breast and prostate cancers, but women have taken keen interest compared to men.

The Uganda Cancer Institute Spokesmen, Christine Namulindwa says that they are targeting men between the age of 40 to 45 years and above who are most victims.

Namulindwa says all suspected cases are being isolated and given treatment for free.

Other health related issues being handled by Ministry of Health and its departments/ agencies include general health check-ups, Cardiovascular Screening, HIV tests and Sickle cell disease screening among others.

The week-long event that that kicked off yesterday is running under the theme “Stronger Together” and is aimed at giving a platform to government agencies and ministries to showcase what they have been doing with the taxpayers’ money.
