Hands-on Skills: Mystique Training Centre Admitting Learners On Half Bursary Program

Mystique Training Centre offers a wide range of courses on diploma and certificate level. Short courses are also offered

Soft/life skills is the thing today as they enhance job creation and contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth. However, where one acquires those skills matters the most as many training institutions don’t offer the required practical lessons.

Mystique Training Centre is one of the training institutions that offers practical life skills since they have enough equipment and a conducive learning environment.

Considering the fact that the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (U.C.E) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) are already out, parents should consider enrolling their children at Mystique Training Centre so that they can acquire life skills in different areas.

Located at Makerere-Kubiri in Wandegeya, the institution offers Diplomas, Certificates and Short Courses in different areas.

Mary Namugenyi, the Administration Officer at  Mystique Training Centre, says they offer Diploma courses in Hair Dressing, Beauty Specialist, Cosmetology, Fashion & Design, Computing & IT.

Most of the Diploma courses take one and half years apart from Fashion & Design and Computing & IT  that take two years.

“Our fees are friendly. For diploma courses, fees start from as low as Shs500,000 per semester,” Namugenyi says, adding that admissions are ongoing and the half bursary program is still on.

She adds that the institution’s timetable is flexible and learners have an opportunity to earn as they study.

Mystique Training Centre also offers Certificate Courses in Cosmetology, Hair Dressing, Beauty Therapy, Fashion & Design, Computing & IT.

The certificate courses’ duration is one year while short courses range between two and four months.

Certificate in short courses include Barbering, Braiding, Hair Styling, Artistry & Hair Additions, Chemical Reformations, Bridal Styling, Make-up Artistry, Manicure & Pedicure,  Facials, waxing, Swedish Massage and Basic computing.

The training centre also offers accommodation for learners who come from far or can’t afford to come from home.

Namugenyi encourages Ugandans including those with degrees to embrace vocational education and attain soft skills that can earn them extra source of income.

“There are many youth with degrees but jobless. This is an opportunity for them to gain soft skills in one of the courses we are offering. With life skills, you can easily start your own business and change your fortunes,” Namugenyi says, adding: “Even if you are employed, you can acquire a new skill and practice it during the weekends. This allows you to earn extra income.”
