FUFA Hunt For Coaches To Lead National Teams

Cranes Coach, Micho

The Federation of Uganda’s Football Associations (FUFA) has launched a search for coaches of the various national teams. While the Federation oversees more than 10 national teams, in March 2022, FUFA president Moses Magogo declared all technical positions of other national teams vacant, except for the Uganda Cranes and the National Under 23 team (the Uganda Kobs), which will be managed by the assistant coach of the Uganda Cranes.

FUFA has now opened applications for all vacant positions. The press statement reads, “FUFA is seeking competent and qualified technical personnel to fill vacant positions of Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, Goalkeeping Coaches, and Fitness Trainers for the National teams of Women and Men’s Junior sides.” The Federation also clarified that the vacancies are open to both Ugandan and non-Ugandan nationals, and even those who have held these positions previously are eligible to apply for the current openings.

While many of the jobs were previously on a part-time basis, in this new development, all positions will be full-time jobs. The vacant positions include Head Coach of the Uganda U-20 team (Hippo), who will preside over all the junior teams; Head Coach for the Uganda U-17 Men’s Team; Head Coach of Uganda U-15 Men’s Team; Assistant Head Coach for Uganda U-15 Men’s Team; three Goalkeeper Coaches for Junior & Women National Teams; and three Fitness Trainers for Junior & Women National Teams.

The position of the Head Coach of the National Women’s team (Crested Cranes) will be in charge of all women’s national teams. Head Coach for the Queen Cranes (Women U-20) and Head Coach for Teen Cranes (Women U-17) are also among the vacant positions.

Magogo had earlier stated that the current technical bench led by Serbian tactician Milutin Sredojević Micho will remain at the helm of the senior national team until the end of the African Cup of Nations qualification campaign when the FUFA Executive committee will analyze their performance and make a final decision.
